On-Site Conveyor Belt Surveys

Finding Problems, Before They Stop Production

A conveyor problem rarely starts overnight. Wear, misalignment and component issues often develop over time before they lead to a breakdown.

At N E Vulcanising, our engineers carry out detailed conveyor site surveys to identify potential issues early, helping you plan maintenance, prevent unexpected failures and get the most from your equipment.

Whether you’re planning a belt replacement, reviewing an existing system or looking to improve reliability, we’ll assess your conveyor and provide practical recommendations based on its condition and the demands of your operation.

What We Inspect

Our surveys look at the complete conveyor system — not just the belt. We assess the key components that affect performance, reliability and belt life.

Our site surveys include:

  • Belt condition- checking wear, damage, splice condition and signs of future failure
  • Pulley and drum condition- inspecting lagging, wear, alignment and overall condition
  • Rollers and idlers- identifying seized, worn or damaged components
  • Tracking and alignment- checking for issues that cause uneven wear & belt damage
  • Structure and components- assessing the overall condition of the conveyor system

Clear Findings, Practical Advise

Following the survey, we explain what we have found and what needs doing. You will know:

  • Which issues need attention first.
  • Which repairs or components can be planned for a later shutdown.
  • Whether the existing belt specification is still suitable.
  • What replacement belts, fasteners or components may be required.
  • Where small adjustments could help improve belt life and performance.

The aim is to give you a clear order of priority, so you can spend time and money where it will make the most difference.

Plan the Work Around Your Operation

A survey gives you the chance to prepare properly. Belts and components can be ordered in advance, access and lifting requirements can be arranged, and the work can be scheduled when the conveyor is already due to stop.

That helps reduce emergency call-outs, avoid rushed decisions and make better use of planned maintenance time.

If a replacement belt is needed, our stockholding of over 100,000 metres means we can often move quickly from identifying the requirement to supplying the belt.

Scheduled Conveyor Survey Programmes

For sites with several conveyor lines, regular surveys provide a clearer picture of how each one is wearing over time.

We can carry out inspections at intervals to suit the site and its operating conditions, helping you:

  • Keep a record of each conveyor’s condition.
  • Spot recurring faults and wear patterns.
  • Plan belt and component replacements ahead of time.
  • Prioritise maintenance across multiple lines.
  • Reduce the risk of unexpected downtime.

Know What Needs Doing Next

A conveyor survey is not about producing a list of faults and leaving you to work out what happens next. It gives you practical information you can use to plan the job properly.

Our engineers can identify the issue, recommend the repair or replacement required and, where needed, carry out the work themselves. From the initial inspection through to belt supply, fitting and vulcanising, you can deal with one experienced team.
