Recycling & Waste

Recycling & Waste

Waste. Wear. No Time To Stop.

When a recycling or waste conveyor stops, material soon starts backing up. Belt reliability has a direct effect on throughput, whether you are feeding a shredder, sorting material, moving product to a baler or loading out processed material.

N E Vulcanising supplies, fits, joins, repairs and maintains conveyor belts for HWRCs, waste transfer stations, skip operators, MRFs, WEEE recycling facilities and material recovery operations across the UK.

From a planned belt change during a shutdown to urgent support after a breakdown, we have the belt stock, equipment and engineers to keep your operation moving.

From Infeed To output

We work across fixed processing lines, mobile shredders, screeners and other mobile recycling equipment.

That includes infeed conveyors, picking and sorting lines, trommel feeds, shredder infeed and discharge conveyors, WEEE-processing and separation lines, screens, baler feeds, transfer conveyors and stockpiling systems.

Where belts run through restricted areas, around processing machinery or on mobile plant, the replacement needs planning properly. We assess the set-up, supply the right belt and carry out the installation and jointing on site.

What We Can Do For Your Site

  • Infeed, Transfer & Discharge Belts: Supply and fitting for conveyors moving mixed waste, recyclables and processed material through the plant.
  • Shredder, Trommel & Screen Belts: Replacement belts for high-impact, abrasive positions across fixed and mobile equipment.
  • Picking & Sorting-Line Belts: Belting for manual picking lines, separation systems, MRFs and WEEE-processing equipment.
  • Baler Feed & Stockpile Belts: Belts for balers, transfer points, loading and stockpiling conveyors.
  • On-Site Jointing & Repairs: Hot vulcanised joints, cold-cure repairs and mechanical fastening for planned work and urgent failures.
  • Tracking & Conveyor Maintenance: Tracking correction, drum lagging and replacement of rollers, idlers, bearings, pulleys and skirts.
  • Site Surveys & Planned Work: Condition checks and belt identification, with work planned around your operating hours.
  • 24/7 Breakdown Support: Engineers available around the clock when a belt failure stops the line.

Tough Belts, Tougher Conditions

Mixed waste, metals, timber, glass, rubble and contamination are hard on conveyor belting. Cutting, gouging, abrasion, impact damage and longitudinal tearing are all common, while fines and carryback can quickly create tracking, cleaning and maintenance problems.

We do not simply replace the width and move on. We look at the material, loading conditions, impact, belt speed, incline, pulley diameters and conveyor position, then specify the belt around the work it is doing.

For heavier waste-handling applications, that can mean EP multi-ply belting, high-abrasion cover grades, rip-stop constructions or profiled belts. With over 100,000 metres of conveyor belting in stock, we can often supply the belt needed without waiting for it to be ordered in.

Make the Shutdown Count

Shutdown time is limited, so the belt work needs to be ready before the plant stops.

We can survey and measure conveyors in advance, identify the belts and materials required, then prepare everything before the shutdown begins. Where several belts need attention, we will plan the order of work so the available time is used properly.

That means less time spent measuring, sourcing materials or deciding what needs doing once the line is already down — and more time spent getting the work completed.

Fix It Before It Fails

Damaged joints, poor tracking, edge wear, cover damage and material build-up often develop before a belt fails completely.

Our conveyor site surveys assess belts alongside the components affecting their performance, including lagging, rollers, idlers, pulleys, skirts and tracking. We can then help you prioritise immediate repairs, planned replacements and belts that can continue to be monitored.

For sites with multiple conveyors, that gives maintenance and site teams a clearer picture of what needs attention and when.

When It Goes Down, We Get To Work

A shredder feed belt does not care that it is 11pm. Incoming waste rarely waits for a convenient breakdown either.

Our engineers provide 24/7 breakdown support for waste and recycling sites across the UK. We establish the fault, belt position and site details before setting off, giving us the best chance of arriving with the belt and equipment needed to complete the work.

Depending on the damage and remaining condition of the belt, we can carry out a hot vulcanised repair, cold-cure repair, mechanical joint or full replacement. We will assess the cause, advise on the right way forward and put it right.

More Than a Belt Change

A replacement belt will not last as it should if it is still running over seized rollers, poor lagging, worn skirts or a tracking issue.

We can deal with the wider conveyor problems during the same visit, including drum lagging, tracking, rollers, idlers, bearings, pulleys and skirts. Sorting the cause as well as the damaged belt helps avoid the same issue returning too soon.

Ready for the Site

Waste and recycling sites can mean difficult access, working at height, contaminated material and limited space around the conveyor. Our service vehicles carry the specialist tools and materials needed for on-site belt work, along with our own generators, mobile presses and lifting equipment.

Our Engineers Are Competent In:

  • Working at Height
  • Harness Use
  • Lifting Equipment
  • Forklift Operation
  • Scissor Lift Operation
  • Cherry Picker / MEWP Operation

Our conveyor experience goes back to 1986. From initial belt specification through to the final joint, the job stays with our own team.
