Wash plants put belts through more than most. Constant water, abrasive material, wet fines and high throughput all take their toll- and when a belt starts slipping, tracking off or failing at a joint, the whole operation soon feels it.
N E Vulcanising supplies, fits, repairs and maintains conveyor belts for wash plants across the UK. From a mobile aggregate washer to a fixed mineral-processing or water-treatment plant, we help keep material moving from feed to stockpile.
We work on belts throughout the process, including feed conveyors, wash-plant transfers, rinsing and dewatering sections, screens, grading belts, storage conveyors, stackers and load-out belts.
That Includes Applications Such As:
- Sand and gravel washing
- Recycled aggregates and C&D wash plants
- Mineral processing, including ore washing and flotation circuits
- Silica sand and specialist industrial minerals
- Crop-washing and sorting lines
- Water treatment, including screenings, sludge and filter-press feed conveyors
The application may change, but the requirements are familiar: a belt that suits the material, runs properly in wet conditions and stands up to the work.
The right belt depends on where it sits in the plant. A raw feed belt handling dirty stone needs something very different to a conveyor taking washed sand to stockpile, or a belt used around food produce or wastewater.
We supply heavy-duty belts for washed aggregates, suitable covers for abrasive and wet material, grip belts for inclines, and specialist constructions where oils, chemicals, food-contact requirements or process water need taking into account.
We will look at the position, material and conditions it is working in, then supply a belt that makes sense for the job- rather than fitting the nearest thing available.
Water between the belt and drive drum quickly reduces grip. A belt that was running well in dry conditions can start slipping, glazing, wearing the pulley surface or struggling under load once the plant is wet.
Where that is the issue, we can assess the drive and fit suitable drum lagging. Ceramic lagging with drainage grooves is often the right answer for heavily saturated positions, helping break the water film and maintain traction between the belt and drum.
It is not always just a belt problem. Sorting the drive, lagging and tracking together can stop the same issue returning a few weeks later.
A damaged belt does not always need replacing. We carry out hot vulcanised repairs, cold-cure patches, edge repairs and mechanical fastening where a repair is the sensible way to get you moving again.
If the belt has worn through, suffered repeated damage or the joint has reached the end of its life, we can supply and fit a replacement belt, join it on site and make sure it is tracking and running correctly before we leave.
Common issues we are called out to include:
Whatever the issue, we will assess the cause, advise on the best way forward and put it right.
If a belt keeps wearing on one edge, pulling out of line or suffering repeated failures, there is usually a reason behind it.
We can inspect and deal with the parts affecting belt life, including tracking, rollers and idlers, pulleys, bearings, skirts, scrapers and drum lagging. Getting the conveyor running properly protects the replacement belt and helps avoid unnecessary downtime.
A wash plant does not stop at a convenient time. We provide 24/7 breakdown support for urgent belt repairs and replacements, with our own generators, mobile presses and lifting equipment ready to work on site.
For planned work, we can arrange belt changes around shutdowns and quieter periods. Identifying a worn belt early gives you the chance to plan the work properly, instead of waiting for it to fail when the plant is needed most.
We hold over 100,000 metres of conveyor belt in stock, in widths from 500mm to 2600mm. That means we can often respond quickly with the right belt, rather than leaving you waiting on a supplier.
For fixed or bespoke wash plants, we can survey the full conveyor circuit and assess the condition of the belts, joints, drives and running gear.
It helps identify where wear is building up, where a belt is likely to cause trouble next and what work can be planned before an unexpected stop costs you production.
